Stellar Omada founder Colin Frame wants Elevate programme to address digital skills gap in Scotland

STELLAR OMADA has launched a digital education programme aimed at securing jobs for people with little or no experience in the tech sector.

Following a successful pilot earlier this year, where seven candidates secured full-time employment, Stellar Elevate begins this month with up to twelve individuals embarking on a seven-week software testing course designed to prepare them for a career in technology.

Colin Frame, Managing Director and Founder of Stellar Omada, commented: “It’s our ambition to have as many as one thousand people come through this programme over the next five years to help address the digital skills gap. We’re starting off with software testing because that is our bread and butter at Stellar, but we see Stellar Elevate evolving over time to cover a host of other tech disciplines.”

“In the first instance, Stellar Elevate candidates will sit an exam at the end of the course which will give them an ISTQB certificate, which in turn puts them in a strong position to gain a well-paid job in the sector.”

Reflecting on the challenges posed by the digital skills gap, Colin Frame added: “As one of Scotland’s fastest-growing technology companies, we see first hand the magnitude of the digital skills gap, how it can hold back the pace of growth, and ultimately top-line economic growth in Scotland. We saw CodeClan fold last year, so we lost the main provider of digital skills provision in this country and that’s a concern when you’re leading a tech business like ours.”

Stellar Omada is actively engaged with industry stakeholders to address the demand for corporate sponsorship, enabling companies to upskill their existing teams or recruit new talent.

Specializing in business and technology transformation and programme delivery, Stellar Omada celebrated its 5th anniversary last year and secured a £4.5 million investment from BGF in September. The company collaborates closely with clients in the banking, pensions, and investment management sectors.

In addition, Stellar strengthened its commercial partnership with Heart of Midlothian FC in 2024, including a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal, the largest commercial agreement in the club’s history, and ongoing support for Heart of Midlothian’s Innovation Centre and digital skills delivery to young people.
