THE UK Government has published a report which outlines the capabilities and risks from frontier AI, seeing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak call for an improved global responsibility to take AI risk seriously and allow opportunities to be capitalised upon.
The report draws on sources including intelligence assessments and has been designed with the intention of informing discussion at next week’s AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park, which hopes to see internationally shared goals and understandings developed to manage AI related risks.
The report acts as part of the Government’s action to take long-term decisions to lead the world in AI safety to capitalise upon opportunities that this emerging piece of technology offers and it consists of three parts: Capabilities and Risks from Frontier AI, Safety and Security Risks of Generative AI to 2025 and Future Risks of Frontier AI.
The publication of the report comes ahead of Sunak’s speech which he will give today with the plan to outline how he will ensure the government is ready to do what it takes to make AI safe and cement the UK’s position as a leader in AI, allowing opportunities to be enjoyed improving people’s lives, public services and economic growth and productivity.

In his speech, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to say:
“AI will bring new knowledge, new opportunities for economic growth, new advances in human capability, and the chance to solve problems we once thought beyond us. But it also brings new dangers and new fears.
“So, the responsible thing for me to do is to address those fears head on, giving you the peace of mind that we will keep you safe, while making sure you and your children have all the opportunities for a better future that AI can bring.
“Doing the right thing, not the easy thing, means being honest with people about the risks from these technologies.”
