Demand for professional IT contractors in Scotland increased by 29% year-on-year in June 2019. That is according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).
The data, provided by recruitment software firm, Innovantage, also reveals that the legal sector performed particularly well, with permanent vacancies rising by 28%. Demand for banking & insurance professionals was also notable, with growth of 21%.
Overall, permanent professional vacancies increased by 19% for the same period across the country.
Commenting on the data, Moya Rylands, Regional Director at APSCo said:
“It’s fantastic to see that recruitment is booming in Scotland, particularly within IT. Over the past decade, Edinburgh has quietly become one of the UK’s most thriving tech hubs. According to the Tech Nation UK 2018 report , the city saw a 526% increase in digital startups between 2006 and 2016, and was also named the UK’s best city to launch a startup . Against this backdrop, it is no surprise that demand for talent in accelerating.”

Over the last 15 years, it has been growing its presence in Inverness, Thurso, Lerwick and now Elgin. Following a recent partner announcement, the firm also made 26 new promotions and plans to drastically increase headcount.”
