Osprey Charging, the UK’s leading and fastest-growing EV rapid-charging network, has agreed a partnership with Railpen, one of the UK’s largest and longest-established pension investors. The collaboration, which involves an initial rollout of three new electric vehicle (EV) charging locations, begins with the launch of three rapid chargers in Harrow, London. Additionally, the site at St Ann’s has the potential to save around 7,400 tonnes of CO2, contributing significantly to local decarbonisation efforts.
Located within the multi-story car park of St Ann’s Shopping Centre, the latest Osprey Charging site is strategically positioned to cater to the growing demand for high-powered EV charging in the area. The newly installed charge points – three 60kW chargers that are compatible with every EV on the market today – will add 100 miles of range in just 35 minutes, depending on the model of the vehicle and its battery.
Easy to use and designed for simple payment, Osprey Chargers accept contactless bank cards, Apple/Google Pay, the Osprey App and RFID card payments as well as payments through all major third-party payment methods including fleet cards. Osprey’s in-house software, Osprey Iris, enables market-leading levels of reliability and innovation in EV roaming.
The launch of the St Ann’s Shopping Centre charging site marks the first milestone for the collaboration. Yet, this is just the beginning for Osprey Charging and Railpen, with two more sites slated to go live later this year, including a 16-bay hub at Glamorgan Vale Retail Park in Wales and two 150kW chargers across four bays at Old George Mall in Salisbury.
Osprey Charging is dedicated driving the adoption of EVs by bolstering the charging infrastructure in key locations across the country. In providing the public with more accessible and reliable rapid EV charging, Osprey is helping to improve local air quality and reduce noise pollution as well as supporting local decarbonisation efforts.
Maria Averkina, Asset and Development Manager at Railpen commented: “The new charging site at St Ann’s Shopping Centre offers drivers a convenient location to charge their vehicle in as fast as 35 minutes. This latest announcement is a testament to Railpen’s ongoing commitment to use our influence and scale to effect positive change in the world, ultimately creating a better environment for our members to retire in.”
Andrew Nosworthy, Commercial Director at Osprey Charging said: “We’re excited to partner with Railpen to bring reliable, rapid charging to St Anns Shopping Centre in Harrow. Our collaboration with Railpen underscores our commitment to providing accessible charging to all EV drivers across the UK. The launch of our first Railpen site, as well as the two further locations that will open very shortly, mark another significant step in this direction.”
With over 1,100 rapid charge points now operational across rural and urban locations in the UK, Osprey’s extensive network was recognised as a ‘Driver Recommended Network’ by Zap Map for a fourth time in 2023, shortly followed by selection as Chargepoint Network of the Year at the 2023 Electric Vehicle Innovation and Excellence Awards (EVIEs).
