CONNECTIVITY and network specialists, The Clarus Networks Group, has made two significant senior appointments reflecting rocketing demand. David Spence and David Turner join the firm as Head of Operations and Head of Product respectively, bringing with them a combined 50 years of experience in the telecoms market.
Joining Clarus as Head of Operations based at Clarus’ HQ in Bathgate, David Spence brings over 30 years of experience in networks having previously led operations and project services at Enlinea and Ping Network Solutions. David will leverage his extensive expertise to lead Clarus’ operational initiatives and support the firm in delivering exceptional service to its global customers.
David Turner joins Clarus as Head of Product, bringing over two decades of experience in the global telecom industry, with a focus on wireless and optical communications. Based in Cambridge UK, David has a rich background spanning technical sales, product development, and strategic planning. At Clarus, David will direct cutting-edge technologies, focusing on integration solutions tailored to customers’ specific needs.
Scotland-headquartered Clarus tripled revenue in 2023 and doubled the number of employees across all business service areas. The recent global expansion plans follow the opening of a specialist Maritime & Energy division last year, with a technology demonstration centre opening in Bathgate later this summer. Clarus specialises in providing ‘internet from space’, using a constellation of low-Earth orbiting satellites. This technology delivers high speed internet connectivity to even the most remote locations, with download speeds of 220Mbps.
Derek Phillips, Group Managing Director at The Clarus Networks Group, said: “These hires mark a significant milestone for Clarus, expanding our team with two industry experts with skills in driving strategic growth. David Spence’s extensive leadership in operations and David Turner’s technical focus will allow Clarus to continue to deliver cutting-edge connectivity solutions to our customers worldwide.”
David Spence, Head of Operations at The Clarus Networks Group, said: “I join Clarus at an exciting stage, with a focus on continuing to deliver excellent service to customers across the globe and expanding our customer base across fascinating new industries. Clarus is uniquely placed to support businesses with connectivity, no matter how remote, with the convergence of technologies underpinned by advanced connectivity.”
David Turner, Head of Product at The Clarus Networks Group, said: “Coming to Clarus, I’m heading up a team that works on some of the most innovative connectivity technologies available. My role poses an interesting opportunity to work across an expansive range of industries to develop new and creative ways of utilising low-Earth Orbit satellites, as well as 5G technology, to keep us all better connected.”
