Phenna Group, the Nottingham-headquartered TICC group founded in 2019 around Hansen Aerospace and Fife-based First Scottish Group Ltd, has acquired Belgian engineering specialist V2i and optical metrology firm Optrion in its 12th deal of 2026, strengthening the Industrials Division’s advanced simulation, testing and precision measurement capability across Europe.
V2i, headquartered in Liège, is an ISO-accredited testing, inspection, certification and compliance provider that delivers advanced simulation, testing and validation of mechanical systems, with particular focus on fatigue, durability and structural performance under complex loading.
The company supports clients across the asset lifecycle, from design verification through to failure analysis and in-service optimisation, combining finite element analysis, experimental testing and technical advisory work.
Optrion, also based in Liège, specialises in optical measurement and precision inspection solutions for industries where high accuracy and tight quality control are critical, including automotive and aerospace manufacturing.
The firm provides advanced metrology services and equipment and is accredited for precision measurement and calibration under recognised ISO standards, adding a dedicated optical and dimensional-inspection strand to the division.
Phenna said the twin acquisitions further strengthen its Industrials Division by adding simulation, validation, precision measurement and quality assurance expertise that complements existing specialist testing services.
Together, the businesses expand the group’s ability to deliver integrated solutions for clients operating in complex, highly regulated and technically demanding environments across Europe.
Ettore Pollicardo, EMEA Divisional Managing Director at Phenna Group, described V2i and Optrion as “highly respected businesses with technical expertise and strong reputations in their respective markets” whose capabilities in advanced simulation, testing and precision measurement “significantly enhance our Industrials Division capabilities and support our strategy of building a leading global platform of specialist TICC services.”
Daniel Simon, founder of V2i and Optrion, said joining Phenna would allow the Belgian teams to preserve their technical quality and independence while benefiting from the scale, investment and international reach of a global group.
Phenna Group CEO Phil Marshall said he was pleased to welcome the V2i and Optrion teams into the group, adding that their expertise “further strengthens our Industrials Division and supports our continued expansion across Europe.”
The deal continues an acquisitive run that has already seen Phenna complete multiple Industrials and Infrastructure transactions in 2026, following a series of European moves in 2025 and a recent €175m funding raise to support further M&A.
Through acquisitions such as Construction Testing Solutions and geo-environmental consultancy Mason Evans, Phenna’s Infrastructure arm has built a significant Scottish footprint in materials testing and ground investigation, supplying services into grid and infrastructure projects and employing specialist teams in Glasgow and across the country.
With V2i and Optrion now part of the Industrials Division alongside that Scottish base, the group gains extra simulation, fatigue-testing and metrology capability that can be drawn on for sectors that matter to Scottish readers — from offshore renewables and grid reinforcement to aerospace and advanced manufacturing — as Phenna pursues its wider European expansion strategy.
