iPipeline has completed its acquisition of Edinburgh-based financial technology firm Origo after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals, including clearance from the UK Competition and Markets Authority.
The deal strengthens iPipeline’s position in the UK wealth and retirement market, bringing together its digital insurance and pensions technology with Origo’s connectivity services for financial providers, platforms and advisers.insidermedia+1
Origo, which was founded in 1989, develops technology intended to enable the secure exchange of information across the financial services sector. Its services are designed to reduce manual processes and friction between firms operating across insurance, retirement and wealth management.
iPipeline said the acquisition will help customers deal with fragmented technology systems and disconnected customer experiences, as financial services businesses face increasing pressure to modernise their operations.
Pat O’Donnell, chief executive of iPipeline, said: “As financial services organisations face growing pressure to modernise operations and deliver seamless customer experiences, the ability to connect people, processes and information has become increasingly important.
“Origo’s expertise in trusted connectivity aligns closely with iPipeline’s strengths – enhancing our ability to help customers reduce complexity, improve collaboration and operate more effectively.”
Rachel Edwards, managing director for the UK and Europe at iPipeline, said the companies shared a focus on practical innovation and working closely with customers.
She added: “By combining Origo’s trusted connectivity capabilities with iPipeline’s technology, we have an opportunity to create a more connected ecosystem that simplifies interactions, supports growth and delivers better experiences for the firms and customers we serve.”
Origo chief executive Anthony Rafferty said joining iPipeline would allow the business to build on its mission of making it easier for financial services firms to connect and work together, while retaining the transparent and collaborative approach valued by customers.
All existing Origo services and solutions will remain available during the transition, with the combined group planning continued investment in technology and collaboration tools. The Origo and Unipass brands will continue to operate as part of iPipeline.
iPipeline, which is headquartered in Pennsylvania and has UK offices in Cheltenham and Bromley, provides digital solutions to the life insurance, pensions and financial services sectors.
