Green Transport Management System by CCL Logistics & Technology

Based in Ayrshire, CCL Logistics & Technology has the distinction of being the first UK logistics services group to receive accreditation from the Smart Freight Centre (SFC). The SFC, a non-profit, is committed to reducing emissions in global freight transportation. The accreditation is a result of CCL’s transport management system, myCCL, which can now independently calculate Scope 3 emissions associated with goods transportation. These emissions include all indirect emissions occurring in the company’s value chain, making up about 70% of a business’s total carbon footprint on average.

Triumphant Exit of BGF from Kick ICT

Kick ICT, an independent IT managed service provider based in Bellshill, received a £8.5 million strategic support from growth capital investor BGF in 2021. BGF has now announced a successful exit from the Glasgow-based company, due to its strong performance since the initial investment. This exit yielded a 2x money multiple (MM) and a 38% internal rate of return (IRR) on the investment.

Acquisition of Cloud Cover IT by Aspire Technology Solutions

Aspire Technology Solutions, a cybersecurity and modern workplace managed service provider, has announced the acquisition of Cloud Cover IT, a Glasgow-based managed service provider. This acquisition aligns with Aspire’s vision for expansion into new UK regions and broadening its portfolio of cutting-edge technology solutions. As part of this investment, Cloud Cover IT will become a part of the Aspire group, with its software development and business applications division rebranded as “Flyte.

New Advisory Group for Pathways Forward Programme

The Pathways Forward programme, launched in September following the publication of the Pathways: A New Approach For Women in Entrepreneurship report, has appointed an advisory group to further progress on the report’s recommendations. The advisory group includes Carolyn Jameson, professor Eleanor Shaw OBE, Jo Forster, Darina Garland and Mark Logan OBE.

Green Hydrogen Production from Distillery Wastewater

Researchers from Heriot-Watt University claim to have developed a method to harness the wastewater produced by the distilling industry, to facilitate green hydrogen production. This new approach could not only lower the waste produced by distillation, but also reduce the freshwater footprint associated with green hydrogen production.

East Kilbride-based Eureka Solutions has partnered with AFD to enhance its Sage 200 cloud accounting solution. The collaboration will fortify Eureka Solutions’ cloud accounting solution with an innovative Lookup and Validate Add-on, which will automatically cross-check and validate critical details, minimising manual errors and ensuring data accuracy.

Transforming Glasgow into Europe’s Largest IoT Innovation Hub

A partnership between the UK Government, Glasgow City Council, and the Smart Things Accelerator Centre (STAC) aims to transform Glasgow into Europe’s largest smart things and Internet of Things (IoT) innovation hub. The partnership centres around a new 250-desk facility at SkyPark, Finnieston in Glasgow named “thebeyond”, and includes £257,000 of grant funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
