Google has launched a Gemini desktop app for Windows 10 and 11, giving users access to its AI assistant alongside their existing applications. Announced on 10 September, the app is available in countries and languages where Gemini is supported.

Pressing Alt + Space opens Gemini over the user’s current work. Google suggests users can check information in a document or generate presentation titles before returning to their original task.

The app also provides a dedicated workspace for longer tasks. Google says users can ask Gemini to prepare project summaries using information from Gmail and Google Drive, or pass multi-step tasks to its Gemini Spark agent.

Creative tools include image generation through Nano Banana and video creation with Gemini Omni. Google says more native Windows desktop capabilities will be introduced over time.

Chat history and memory can sync between desktop, web and mobile when users sign in with the same Google account. However, feature availability varies, and selected functions require a Google AI subscription and are restricted to adults.

The app supports Windows devices using x64 or ARM64 processors. Google provides the download through its Gemini desktop website.
