Meta has introduced Meta VR Glasses, a virtual reality device in a glasses form factor that weighs about 100 grams. It will go on sale in spring 2027 for $1,299.99.
The company says the glasses are five times lighter than its Meta Quest 3 headset. The saving comes from a two-part design: the glasses carry the sensors and display, while a separate puck, connected by an optical tether, holds the compute, battery and storage and clips to a pocket or bag.
The device uses micro-OLED panels with 37 pixels per degree, supports Dolby Vision and has Dolby Atmos spatial audio built into the frames. It runs on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Reality Elite processor, and the puck battery provides up to three hours of continuous high-resolution media playback.
Meta’s AI agent is integrated into the operating system, so users can control the glasses by voice, eye movement and hand gestures, without controllers.
Meta says the glasses are the first IMAX Enhanced certified VR device. Once they launch, the company plans more than 100 immersive live sports events a year, with partners including MLB, NBC Sports, TNT Sports and UFC.
The glasses can also act as a private multi-screen workspace, turning any flat surface into a keyboard and touchpad. More than 75 games will be available at launch, and Meta is introducing hologram calling that works with apps including WhatsApp and Zoom.
